The main fashion guru of the Preppy era was a familiar face — the seventy year-old Kensuke Ishizu, founder of VAN Jacket. Ishizu spoke his wisdom in a set of highly-successful magazine stories, starting with the January 25, 1982 issue ofHot Dog Press_called “Kensuke Ishizu’s New Ivy Dictionary.” This was the first issue of_Hot Dog Press_that outsold its rival_Popeye.
