Coherence’s founder, Kentaro Nakagomi, takes inspiration from the wardrobes of legendary artists, designers and historical personalities. For these highly researched models he goes to great lengths to find the perfect components, such as commissioning custom fabric for specific pieces. As one of the first places to stock Coherence in the world, we developed a longstanding relationship and several exclusive pieces.
The Charles II Coat is an exclusive design by Armoury co-founder Mark Cho and Nakagomi-san of Coherence. We’ve named the coat after Charles Mingus, the legendary jazz bassist and composer who once famously fired his shotgun indoors.
The Charles II Coat is built for movement. The sleeves have been designed so you can lift arms your freely without disturbing the body of the coat. It features handwarmer pockets in the midsection and large patch pockets for you to keep shotgun shells or more likely, your smartphone, maybe even some cigars, a cutter and a lighter.
Of course, beyond its practicality for shooting, it is a superb coat for wearing both casually or over tailoring. The body is just long enough to cover jackets, and the waist can be cinched to give a little bit more shape. It can easily be layered for winter, or worn on its own during transitional seasons.
As with all Coherence garments it is made with a fine attention to detail with exceptional quality hardware.
Coherence outerwear is cut with an “A-line” silhouette, allowing the garment to fall away from the wearer at the skirt, creating an elegant effect.
The Charles II fits full and we suggest choosing your normal size or one down for the best fit.
