Unimatic x The Armoury 10.15

The Unimatic U5S-TA2 “10.15” - a special edition celebrating 10 years of Unimatic and 15 years of The Armoury.

A note from The Armoury’s founder, Mark Cho

The Armoury and Unimatic had a very successful collaboration called the Blu Notte last year. Elliot, my design partner, and I thoroughly enjoyed working with Unimatic's founders, Giovanni Moro and Simone Nunziato, and their team due to their exceptional design sense and positive collaborative attitude. Since then, we have been regularly exchanging ideas about what a future project could look like.

During a conversation I had earlier this year with Giovanni, I found out that not only was Unimatic reaching its 10th anniversary, but he was also not intending to highlight this special milestone. I, on the other hand, was planning all sorts of nonsense for The Armoury's 15th anniversary. We had been discussing some geometric designs in red and white, so I suggested we nominate this design to be a tribute to the progress our companies have made.

The main motif of the dial, a red checkerboard-esque pattern, is evocative of classic racing dials. Some might think of it as a finish line, but to me, it is a lap marker. The journeys of Unimatic and The Armoury have no endpoint. There have been and will be plenty of challenges to overcome, along with many successes to be proud of. The important thing is to keep going. With each lap, we learn and grow, opening up fresh opportunities and attaining new goals. Imagining the trials and tribulations Giovanni and his team must have gone through, along with all the experiences we had at The Armoury, I feel very content celebrating with some good friends traveling on a path parallel to ours.

Cheers to 10 years of Unimatic, 15 years of The Armoury, and to anyone pursuing their dreams.

Dial and Hand Design

The dial’s track and hands are a mix of strong, contrasting colours and light, graphic shapes. The markings have a geometric simplicity, with a simple black track for the hours and a confident red double-track for the minutes. The hands are skeletonized and painted red to keep in harmony with the overall dial design.

Case and Movement

Housed inside the 36mm stainless steel case of the U5S-TA2 is the automatic caliber Sellita SW200-1b, which operates at 28,800bph, has a power reserve of 41 hours, and includes a hacking feature.
