Studio Sessions: The Armoury Essentials

Certain basics are the cornerstone of a classic wardrobe. Our essentials are a carefully curated group of products that we are committed to stocking because they are useful in such a variety of occasions. These are our recommended entry points to a first suit, shirt, or nice pair of shoes.

The Armoury’s own Tuxedo features a lightly roped shoulder with a clean but generous sleevehead, a lower buttoning point, and wide peak lapels. Made for us exclusively by Osaka-based tailors Ring Jacket, the inky black wool/mohair fabric is a great weight for most temperatures and is complemented nicely with satin facings. Also, we’ve kept it classic and understated with jetted pockets, a vent-less back, and old-school prayer buttons. Whether this is your first tuxedo or your fifth, this has a place in every man’s wardrobe.

Includes single pleat trousers to match with matching satin braid.

The Armoury’s Model 6 is a perennial favorite and our take on a classic double-breasted jacket. Featuring a lower, more horizontal lapel that sweeps out wide and straight, it’s incredibly classic and wearable. We’ve also lowered the breast pocket, extended the shoulders, and kept everything soft for a timeless feel. Made up in Piacenza’s “First Class” high twist virgin wool. This plain weave, 2-ply fabric is a medium weight and has a soft finish making this an excellent three season suit.

Includes high rise, single pleated Model B trousers to match.

The Armoury’s own Model 3 sport coat features an unpadded shoulder and enlarged sleevehead giving the garment an exceptional range of motion. We’ve also widened the shoulders a touch and lowered the buttoning point and lapel notches to give the jacket a more timeless feel. This version is made up in a rich navy fabric that Ring Jacket calls “Balloon” - meant to mimic the properties of jersey while retaining the benefits of pure wool, it leads to a soft, brushed finish.

The Armoury’s own shawl collar cardigan sweater is an incredible piece of clothing. Made in conjunction with our favorite mill in Scotland this model is constructed with a ribbed 4-ply cashmere that’s incredible soft and supple and extremely insulating. It features a generous collar that can be flipped up for extra warmth, two exterior pockets, fold-back cuffs, and leather buttons. Our knitwear is cut on the shorter side for wear with higher rise trousers.

Our Safari jacket has been an Armoury essential for over a decade and it was with this experience we developed the Safari II. This next evolution is a cleaner design with additional functionality.

The waist pockets have been enlarged and now feature gussets and bellows. The chest pockets have been slimmed and rounded at the corners. We’ve also added two internal chest pockets bringing the total count to six.

We’ve removed the fly button placket from the three button front and added two action back pleats in place of the single inverted box pleat for even more freedom of movement. The collar has been totally redesigned, with a more dramatic presence that frames the wearers face.

Irish Linens are generally known for their crisp hand, making for a comfortable top layer throughout the warmer months.
