Wash & Wear

From the Shop to the Spin Cycle: The Armoury’s guide to caring for chinos, tees, and Oxfords — whether at home or at your local laundromat.

Caring for Your Clothes at Home

We believe that looking after your clothes is just as important as choosing them well. While tailoring and fine knitwear often benefit from professional care, there are many garments you can confidently wash at home — and doing so properly will keep them looking their best for years.

Chinos

Chinos are best washed in cold water on a gentle cycle. Turn them inside out to reduce fading and friction, and wash them with similar colors. Maintain the office-ready crisp lines with an air dry and quick press, or machine dry your chinos for a lived-in, off-duty look.

T-Shirts

For cotton tees, we recommend a cold wash on a delicate setting. Avoid fabric softener, which can reduce absorbency and affect the hand of the fabric. Lay flat to dry or hang in the shade; direct sunlight can cause colors to fade. A quick steam can help smooth out any creases without flattening the fabric’s natural drape.

Oxford Shirts

Our Oxford cloth shirts develop more character with each wear and wash. Use cold water, a gentle cycle, and a mild detergent. Remove them promptly from the machine to minimize creasing then hang to dry on a wide hanger to preserve the shoulder shape. If you prefer a sharper look, iron while slightly damp — it makes the job easier and the result neater.

Good clothes deserve good care. By taking a little extra time in laundering, you extend their life, maintain their shape, and ensure they continue to feel like old friends every time you put them on.
